This study was conducted to explore the application and task of textbooks in basic Korean language and mathematics curriculum used in first to second grade classes in elementary school. The survey was carried out from June 20, 2013 to July 3, 2013 for 2 weeks. The research subjects consisted of teachers in special schools and teachers in charge of first-second grade students, 67 of whom were teachers in Korean language and 58 of whom were mathematics teachers. This study showed that teachers had difficulty in the application of their textbooks because of insufficient considerations about the basic learning, main learning, the development of supplementary and intensified activities, the developmental stage of learners, and the chronological age in the organization system of the Korean language textbooks. More than half of the participants agreed that the themes selected could not lead the students to take part in the class actively and that the level of the content was not suitable for the level of the students. In supporting the application of the Korean language textbook, the demand for web site implementation mainly based on the contents of the textbook was high, and there was a high level of dissatisfaction for the distribution of textbooks as well as for the implementation of applicable training. In the case of the mathematics textbook, this study showed that the teachers had difficulty with application for the level of the students regarding the contents of the textbook. Similarly to the application of the Korean language textbook, there was a high demand for web site implementation based on the contents of the book and there was a high level of dissatisfaction for the distribution of textbooks as well as for the implementation of applicable training; therefore additional measures seem to be an urgent need. In conclusion, while teachers expressed a high satisfaction concerning the direction of the textbook, organization system, and contents, they indicated a high demand for considerations for the developmental stages of the students, web site implementation, distribution of textbooks, and applicable training for the textbooks now in use compared to the existing textbook. Therefore, this study suggests that considering plans for improvement is necessary.

This study intends to explore how reflecting, a technique applied in group music therapy, affects disabled young children's development in social and communicative capacity. The subject for study was consisted of 10 children at special school for the disabled in early childhood, which are divided into two groups: experimental group made up of five children and control group with the same number of children. For the experimental group, reflecting was conducted by a music therapist while this therapeutic method was applied for the control group. A group therapeutic session was held once a week for the experimental group, which stretched to 32 sessions in total. The sessions were done in parallel with consultation with and education of parents, training for school teachers, distribution of reference material, collection of assessment sheets, observation of therapy sessions by parents, and interviews with individual parents and teachers. The K-CDI development test was used to measure pre- and post-experiment states of the disabled children under study. The study shows that reflecting in group music therapy would have a positive effect on the development of disabled children's social and communicative capacity. There was significant difference in sociality between experimental and control groups. With regard to communicative skills, there was also significant difference in scores of language expression and understanding between two groups. This result concludes that reflecting is effective as therapeutic method in group music therapy for advancing disabled children's social and communicative capacity. It also helps indicate the way which will lead after-school music therapy program for disabled young children to advance.

To study the relationships between sensory processing abilities of children with developmental disorders and mother's musculoskeletal symptoms and parenting-burden. Using university hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals and rehabilitation facilities in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Incheon, such as disability welfare from mothers with children 3 to 10 years old with developmental disabilities, 140 people were surveyed. Questionnaires were used to determine three aspects witch include Short Sensory Profile, musculoskeletal symptoms and to scale the parenting burden of the mothers. Out of 75% of the mothers who undertook the study complained of shoulder pain (musculoskeletal symptoms). The musculoskeletal symptoms of the mother is variable depending on the degree of the child's disability. Also, the mothers who have children with developmental disorders suffer a much lager parenting burden than that of a mother with a child without the developmental disorder, the parenting burden of the mothers with children with developmental disorders is also variable depending on the level of the disorder of there child. And, in a subsection of parenting burden, physical and social burden on the mother's would also reflect on the level of musculoskeletal symptoms of the mother's. The sensory processing abilities of children with developmental disorders has a link to the mother's level of burden, it was found that if the child had a normal reaction, the mother's parenting-burden and musculoskeletal symptoms would be minor but if the child had a more serious level of disability then the mother's parenting-burden and musculoskeletal symptoms would be much more extensive. Therefore, musculoskeletal symptoms and mother's parenting-burden to solve the problem of sensory processing abilities of children with developmental disabilities specialist for an accurate assessment of needs and early intervention and treatment, Through direct social support to increase the mother's peace of mind should be needed.

The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness and experiences of current special education teachers regarding the needs of learning “support families of children with special needs” for pre-service teachers in a university teacher training course. Seven special education teachers participated to in-depth interviews. Five themes emerged through qualitative analysis: (1) challenges of building relationship and collaborating with the family, (2) challenges of supporting the family, (3) needs of taking coursework about support for families of children with special needs in university, (4) contents of the coursework, (5) formats of lecture. Discussion and implications regarding the needs of providing coursework of supports for families of children with special needs, contents and formats of the coursework were suggested.

This purpose of this study is to explore the effect of integrated arts therapy program do the emotional stability and self-esteem of student with intellectual disability. For the purpose, this researcher raised the following research questions. What effects does integrated arts therapy program on and the emotional stability and self-esteem of student with intellectual disability? To get answers to these questions, the researcher sampled 4 student with intellectual disability(4 male) from inclusive classes of an high school located in Busan and experimentally treated them using a one-group pretest-posttest design. Emotional stability Test and Self-esteem Test were used as devices of the pre- and post-tests. For the experimental treatment, total 16 activities of integrated arts therapy were applied for 8 weeks with 2 session a week based. Results of the study can be summarized as follows. The emotional stability and self-esteem of student with intellectual disability was measured using personality questionaire and researcher's participatory observation. It was not found significantly different when measured with personality questionaire. But unstable emotions was stable and higher self-esteem. And researcher's participatory observation was found positive change. The foundation stage did not show very little change on behavioral problems, but the deepening stage began to show positive changes gradually. The integration stage was completely reduced.

This study aims to investigate difficulties that mothers of children with HFA(high-functioning autism) experience in home-based discourse and to suggest the supportive services for discourse communication. In this study, interviews were conducted with 4 mothers of 5 to 6 year old high-functioning autistic children who are using discourse in communication and attending speech-language clinic located in Seoul. The result of this study as follows. First, the mothers of children with HAF had difficulties in communication due to restricted types and elements of discourse, and off-topic conversations. Second, they experienced communication breakdowns or misunderstandings due to pragmatic language problems including deficit of intentions, attention-getters, and understandings of listener’s viewpoints. Third, the high-functioning autistic children received the individualized language intervention, etc, but not with professional support for their discourse communication. Fourth, the mothers of the high-functioning autistic children asked for professional support for the children as well as reinforcing the children’s positive relation with their peers for improvement of discourse communication.

The Korean Developmental Test of Visual Perception: Adolescent(K-DTVP-A) is a visual perceptual abilities test comprised of six subtests of copying, figure-ground, visual-motor search, visual closure, visual-motor speed, and form constancy based on the theory of perception. The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of each subtest and the overall inventory in order to see whether K-DTVP-A could measure the visual perceptual abilities of South Korean adolescents in a proper manner. For that purpose, the study conducted reliability analysis through internal consistency reliability, test-retest reliability, inter-rater reliability, and measurement standard error analysis based on the data gathered from 1,100 adolescents aged 9-19 in 11 cities and provinces. The study also analyzed the validity of the test through content, criterion, and construct validity analysis. The reliability analysis results show that the reliability of the six subtests and overall inventory of K-DTVP-A met the psychometric criteria. In addition, the data analysis results to check proof for criterion and construct validity reveal that K-DTVP-A measured the intended visual perceptual abilities in a valid way.

This study investigated the behavior problems of children with developmental disabilities to the sub components of Freud's Structural Theory of Personality. It is suggested that human behavior is determined to the dynamic interaction of sub components including id, ego and superego. Conclusions from this study are as follows. First, it is suggested that we have behaviors problem if id energy is strengthened and the energy of ego and superego is diminished. Second, it is suggested that we have behavior problems if ego energy do not have secondary thought and do not have ability to control id. Third, it is suggested that we have behavior problems if superego energy do not have coherence and do have cruelty. Suggestions from conclusion and discussion are as follows. First, it is suggested that children with developmental disabilities have behavior problems guided by id energy due to ego deficiency. Second, it is suggested that children with developmental disabilities have behavior problems due to developmental deficiency of superego.
