The purpose of this study is to explore the educational support direction of borderline intelligence students by exploring the learning characteristics and factors of underachievement of borderline intelligence learners. To this end, based on previous studies on learners with borderline intelligence, the content of underachievement of learners with borderline intelligence and their resources and characteristics were analyzed. A student with borderline intelligence has an IQ 70∼85 category and does not have an intellectual disability, but complains of academic difficulties. In the general education system, they are unable to adapt to academic performance and school life due to their low cognitive abilities and lack of social skills. In the case of borderline intelligence, there are areas that can be developed through acquired environment and continuous education. The function of language understanding can be improved through direct or indirect experiences and stimuli. The functional level of the working memory area can also be raised through repetitive training. As a result of the study, the direction of educational orientation of learners with borderline intelligence, the requirements to be considered in their educational support, and the learning system were presented, and the study was concluded with suggestions.

The purpose of this study was to examine the teacher’s perception and actual condition of use about the illustrations of special elementary school Korean language and mathematics textbooks. In order to achieve the purpose, FGI (Focus Group Interview) was conducted on five special elementary school teachers. The interview was conducted for about 100 minutes using Zoom because it was difficult to face due to COVID-19. FGI data analysis was conducted in the order of transcription, coding, and data categorization for interview data. The results of the study was as follows. First, teachers perceived the function and role of illustration as activity guidance, visual data, motivation, and interaction medium, and were generally satisfied. However, it was said that it was regrettable in the detailed expression in the case of the Korean language textbook’s illustrations. Second, teachers said the number of illustrations was sufficient. Some teachers raised questions about the quality and validity of illustrations. Third, in the case of illustration use, there were differences (often, rarely) between teachers. When using illustrations, they were used directly as class materials or reconstructed according to class. Fourth, teachers responded with many non-disabled students, lack of live photos, and inadequacy as problems with textbook’s illustrations. And it was hoped to improve. Based on these results, future improvements(e.g. expanding training related to textbook’s illustrations, an increase in live photos, and the use of characters) were discussed and suggested.

This study is aimed at exploring ‘The Special Education Law of Individual with Disabilities and the Like (SELIDL)’ in 2007, which replaced The Special Education Promotion Law (SEPL) legislated in 1977, based on Nam Myeong’s ‘practical’ educational philosophy suggesting to focus on educational practice, not .metaphysical issues. It is suggested that SELIDL has preference on defending values such as the ‘rights’, ‘welfare’ of individual with disabilities, not ‘education’ for individuals with unique educational needs. Therefore we need legislating new special education law such as SEPL, considering situations of special education practice in Korea. Resulting from reviewing historical perspectives, it is appeared that SEPL was legislated by special education professionals including professors, The Korean Association for special education etc, with focus on special education, while SELIDL in 2007 and 2022 were legislated by civil society related to individuals with disabilities. emphasizing welfare rather than education, and ideal not educational practice. Suggestions are as follows. First, we need newly The Special Education (Promotion) Law legislated by special education professionals, with focus on improving special education. Second, we need The Special Education Law for Children with Disabilities legislated by civil society related to individuals with disabilities. Third, we need reviewing The Special Education ‘Promotion’ Law (SEPL), not The Special Education Law (SEL).

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of metaverse-based employment promotion education programs on the digital information capabilities and employment possibilities of the intellectually disabled in a rapidly changing employment environment with the 4th Industrial Revolution. The research method was implemented by designing a metaverse-based employment promotion program for a total of 20 sessions for 7 intellectually disabled people who wish to get a job. As a result of the study, it was found that the digital information competency of the study participants increased somewhat before and after the program execution, but was not statistically significant. In addition, it was confirmed that the employment possibility of the intellectually disabled increased statistically significantly before and after the program was implemented. In addition, it was found that the level of pre-post recognition in the sub-area of ‘setting job goals’ also increased statistically significantly. Therefore, based on the results of this study, the possibility of metaverse-based programs as a new teaching-learning strategy to improve digital information capabilities and employment potential of the intellectually disabled in the future was discussed.

This study was conducted to find out how mother-child musical play activities affect the psychological and behavioral responses of children with developmental disabilities and their Caregivers. The subjects of the study were children with developmental disabilities aged 7 to 12 and Caregivers, and 6 pairs of experimental groups and 6 pairs of control groups were selected from among applicants who agreed to participate in the study. The program was conducted at Center A located in Incheon for a total of eight times, twice a week for 120 minutes, for four weeks, and the control group did not take any treatment except for interaction in daily life. A s t he measurement tools of this study, "K-PSI" and " Ego-Resilience Scale" were conducted before and after the program, and " K-MBRS & K-CBRS" and " MT-MAP" were conducted to measure changes in children and Caregivers of the experimental group. Each time, three people, including a researcher and two music therapists, observed and evaluated. According to the analysis, first, as a result of analyzing the mother-child interaction behavior evaluation scale of children with developmental disabilities and carers, there was a significant difference in parental reactivity and efficiency among the sub-areas of K-MBRS (p<.05), there was a significant difference in the active and social behavior of children in K-CBRS (p<.05). Second, in the parenting stress analysis of Caregivers with disabilities, the parenting s tress of the control group was significantly higher than that of the experimental group (p<).05), the magnetic elasticity of the experimental group increased and the magnetic elasticity of the control group decreased, but there was no significant difference. Third, MT-MAP analysis of children with developmental disabilities showed significant changes in all six sub-areas of communication skills, cognitive skills, exercise skills, emotional skills, social skills, and music skills (p<.05). Therefore, it suggests that mother-child musical play activities had a positive effect on the psychology and emotion of children with developmental disabilities and carers, and were effective in changing mother-child interaction behavior and overall development of children with developmental disabilities.

The purpose of this study is to explore the importance of the category of liberal arts education contents in the lifelong education curriculum for the people with developmental disabilities (DD) to develop teaching-learning materials on liberal arts education. An online survey was conducted on 70 practitioners in the field of lifelong education for the people with disabilities and 33 parents. This study conducted descriptive statistical analysis, repeated measurement variance analysis, and regression analysis. The results are as follows. Firstly, the importance was high in the order of self-management, gender of adult, disability awareness acceptance, social role performance, psycho-social health, social skills, philosophical literacy, literary literacy, and historical literacy. These differences were statistically significant. Secondly, there was a difference in the perception of the practitioner and the parent group on the importance of each category of liberal arts education for the people with DD, which was statistically significant. Based on the results, several matters to be considered in the development of liberal arts education program for the people with DD were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to verifying the technical adequacy (the distribution normality, validity and reliability) of Career Maturity Measurement Tool for youth with developmental disabilities. For this purpose, the questionnaires were developed after analyzing measurement tools and previous literature, focus group interviews, two Delphi surveys, and preliminary survey. Using a stratified multi-stage sampling (regions, school type, types of disability, gender), a total of 1,083 special educators, teachers, rehabilitation counselors, students with disabilities participated in the survey and 798 informant-report types of survey were analyzed for conformity verification. The coefficient of internal consistency was very high at .97, indicating that the reliability of the questionnaire of the final assessment tool was highly secured. A retest was conducted on 27 participants among the research participants who participated in the main survey, and since there was no statistically significant difference (t=-1.509, p=0.143), the test-retest reliability was obtained. As a result of exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, NFI .976, RFI .957, and CFI .982 all showed an .95 or higher, and RMSEA .062 confirmed that it was a suitable structure. The correlation coefficient with the existing career maturity assessment tool(old version) for students with disabilities was very high between .651 and .894 in each scales, securing the criterion validity of Career Maturity Measurement Tool developed in this study. As a result, Career Maturity Measurement Tool for youth with developmental disabilities developed through this study consisted of 3 areas (career attitude, career ability, and career behavior), 10 sub-areas, and a total of 67 questions, and it was found to be statistically very suitable for measuring the career maturity of this population.

This study aimed to examine the growth and changes in the professionalism related to the curriculum of the research participants through the process of the curriculum redesign by linking musical elements to Korean language instruction, targeting three first-year college students in the special education department. By utilizing s elf-cultural description, an autobiographical description method that views one’s subjective experience as part of research and reflects continuous self-reflection, a memoir is written in the nature of a reflection journal in each curriculum redesign process, and all diaries written by three research participants are kept. The study was conducted in a way to compare the process of improving subject expertise through mutual comparison and analysis. Through research activities, it was possible to predict what kind of class effectiveness a musical approach could have in Korean language classes, and in the process of experiencing curriculum redesign, it was possible to improve the knowledge, emotional, and practical capabilities that teachers should have. Based on the results of the study, discussions and suggestions were presented on developing curriculum for special education department and future research.

This study explored the needs of workers with developmental disabilities and support plans at the organizational level at a subsidiary-type standard workplace for the disabled, which is emerging as a new paradigm for the disabled employment environment. The purpose was explored through in-depth interviews, and 3 internal participants working at a standard workplace for the disabled, a subsidiary of 0 0 company, and 4 external participants who w ere workers and experts at organizations r elated to adults with developmental disabilities were composed as research participants. The collected data was subdivided into clauses and sentences through a continuous comparison method, and then coded into semantic words through the agreement of three researchers. The common gender of semantic words was classified and categorized, and a total of 4 upper categories, 12 subcategories, and 71 semantic words were derived. Through this, it was derived the meaning that workers with developmental disabilities who are employed at subsidiary-type standard business disabilities of 00 companies have both personal and job-level demands. In addition, at the organizational level, training reflecting the characteristics of workplaces, reasonable placement standards, and a diversified evaluation system were derived. To this end, the direction of the management system was confirmed through a shared vision among workinglevel staff within the organization. Based on the results, a bottom-up management system through step-by-step expertise at the internal level of the organization and consulting and cooperation programs using external regional infrastructure were suggested.

This study explored the difficulties and needs in the process of independence, employment, marriage and childbirth through the life of a woman who had grown up in a juvenile residential facility. For the study, a woman with intellectual disability who had successfully settled in a community was recruited. In-depth interviews were conducted, and the collected data was analyzed using narrative analysis. Five categories emerged according to the life cycle as follows: Childhood, school age, independent period, marriage period, and the future self beyond the past self. As a result of the findings, the loss of parents and awareness of my disability were revealed as features of the childhood period. The school period was characterized by segregation in education, neglected possibilities, and interaction with people and the world. The independent period featured finding an unknown side of me, holding up and enduring, an outsider, and the necessary conditions for independence. Making family, changes in herself and her spouse by childbirth and support for pregnancy and childbirth, and the ideal type of mother I want to be were the main features of the marriage period. Lastly, past self, important value of ‘living together’, and her family’s splendid future were revealed as features of the category of the future self beyond the past self. Through that, we found the motive of her life, the change in her identity, and the human and social factors that led to those changes in her identity and life. Based on the findings, practical suggestions were provided for independent living, marriage, and childbirth of women with intellectual disabilities.

The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of a career and vocational curriculum-linked vocational program on vocational readiness and career maturity for high school students with intellectual disabilities using the 「Curricular Transition Competency Improvement Program for Students with Disabilities. For this purpose, a pre-and post-control group design was used for 6 students with intellectual disabilities (3 experimental groups, 3 control groups) who are attending special classes located in Incheon Metropolitan City. A Job Readiness Test and a Career Maturity Test for Adolescents with Disabilities were conducted. The period of study was conducted for 15 periods at a session each of 50 minutes duration. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 28.0 and the Mann-Whitney U test was performed to verify the effectiveness before and after the program. As a result of the study, the post-test of the experimental group was significantly higher than the pre-test, and both job readiness and career maturity showed statistically significant improvements compared to the control group. The results of this study are meaningful in that a subject-linked vocational program that improves the vocational readiness and career maturity of high school students with intellectual disabilities was developed and its effectiveness confirmed. Based on the research results, the significance and limitations of this study were discussed.

This study is a qualitative case study exploring self-perception, communication, and behavioral changes of adults with severe physical disabilities who participated in a media literacy education program. The research participant is a male in his 50s who suffered his first disability at the age of 14, and is a severely physically disabilities person who spends most of his time in a electric wheelchair and lives only at home due to multiple disabilities from his early 30s. The media literacy education program consisted of 25 sessions for 11 months from April 2019. An in-depth interview was conducted in May 2022 to analyze the effectiveness of the media literacy education program. As a result of the study, first, it was revealed that the negative self-perception of the research participant changed positively. Second, the research participant who denied the disabled community were able to socially communicate to the extent of finding a welfare center for the disabled on their own. Third, research participant who showed passive behavior showed willingness to live by actively participating in the video production process. In conclusion, this study is meaningful in that it presents an effective case showing that adult with severe physical disabilities were able to recognize themselves as a meaningful member of society and form a more active life attitude through a media literacy education program.

This study using the second and third data of the Disability and Life Dynamics Panel, The group of elementary school students with disabilities in integrated classes and special classes were classified, and the between family health, school life satisfaction, and self-esteem, disability acceptance was the effect on was verified using the structural equations model. The analysis results are as follows. First, a s a result of verifying the average difference between the measurement variables (family health, school life satisfaction, self-esteem, and disability acceptance) between the groups of elementary school students with disabilities educated in integrated classes and special classes, the rest of the variables except for the family health variables in the secondary data It was found that there was a significant difference between the groups, and in the tertiary data, there was a significant difference between the groups in all measurement variables. Second, As a result of analyzing the effects of secondary data family health and school life satisfaction on self-esteem and disability acceptance of elementary school students in integrated classes and special classes, both paths (integrated classes and special classes) showed positive effects on disability acceptance through self-esteem. In the 3rd data, it was found that there was no significant effect on both paths integrated classes and special classes. This study can be used as basic data for successful inclusive education of elementary school students with disabilities in the future.

This study attempted to identify the evidence based practice for students with learning disabilities or at risk for learning disabilities in writing instruction by analyzing the quality of studies that were published until December 2022. The results of this study were as follow: First, according to the quality analysis, there were 2 quasi-experimental and experimental studies which met the criteria of quality indicators. Second 8 single studies which met the standards of quality indicators. Third, the numbers of studies are not enough to determine the evidence based practices for students with learning disabilities and at risk for learning disabilities in writing instruction. And the implications of the results were discussed.

This study analyzed the factors affected employment of adults with developmental disabilities in the era of infectious diseases. The difference between the person concerned and the caregivers was analyzed. In addition, characteristics of adults with developmental disabilities and the caregivers were compared. The analysis data was conducted on 372 adults with developmental disabilities who responded to the 2021 Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, chi-square analysis, binary logistic regression using SPSS 25.0 program. As a result of the analysis, First, factors affected employment of adults with developmental disabilities were basis living security recipient (p<.05), family support for employment (p<.001), consent of awareness COVID-19 (p<.01), changes in quality of life due to COVID-19 (p<.05). Second, Factors affected employment of caregivers were family support for employment (p<.01), consent of awareness COVID-19 (p<.01). Thirds, Caregivers group perceived communication ability, cognitive ability, public transportation ability, household income, and family support for employment, quality of life changes due to COVID-19 were higher than adults with developmental disabilities. And, Adults with developmental disabilities group perceived self-efficacy were higher than caregivers group. As a results, it was confirmed that the factors affected employment of adults with developmental disabilities and caregivers were different. In the case of adults with developmental disabilities, the tendency to prioritize the opinions of guardians is dominant, but all policies need to be discovered and established centered on the person concerned. Therefore, this study suggests a plan to strengthen employment influencing factors centered on adults with developmental disabilities.
